Is there anything I cannot store?

Yes, there are certain things that cannot be stored for reasons of safety and security. You must not store (or allow any other person to store) any of the following in our self-storage units:

  • Food or perishable goods, unless securely packed so they are protected from, and do not attract, vermin
  • Any living creatures (including reptiles, fish, etc.)
  • Combustible or flammable substances such as gas, paint, petrol, oil, cleaning solvents or compressed gases
  • Firearms, explosives, weapons or ammunition of any type
  • Chemicals, radioactive materials, biological agents, toxic waste, asbestos or other hazardous or potentially hazardous substances
  • Any item that emits fumes or odours
  • Any illegal item, or substances or goods illegally obtained, such as illicit (counterfeit / smuggled) tobacco or alcohol, unlicensed or unsafe goods (such as toys, electrical goods, medicines, aerosols, cosmetics, fireworks, etc.)
  • Goods which are environmentally harmful or that are a risk to the property of any person
  • Currency, deeds and securities
  • Items which are unique in nature and / or where the value to the customer cannot be assessed on a financial basis

Can I view the storage facilities before moving in?

Yes, you are welcome to come and look round our storage facility during office hours.

Can you accept deliveries on my behalf?

No, we do not accept deliveries on behalf of customers to our self-storage units. Moving goods into and out of your unit must be done by yourself or your authorised agent.

Do any of the units come with shelves?

No, our self-storage units are completely empty units to allow customers to make the most efficient use of their storage space.

Can I use a storage unit for a business / workshop / personal gym / etc.?

Our self-storage units are for storage purposes only. Customers cannot use the units to operate a business of any kind, or to carry out any other activity (eg as a gym, workshop, repair shop, gallery, etc.).

Can I use a self-storage unit to sleep in?

Customers are not permitted to use the unit as temporary or permanent living accommodation or as a home.

Can Securus Self Storage dispose of items I don’t want?

We do not have rubbish disposal facilities on our site, please make sure you take away any rubbish or other unwanted goods or materials yourself.

Do the self-storage units have power or utilities?

Customers are not permitted to connect or provide any utilities or services to the unit unless explicitly authorised by Securus Self Storage.

Do Securus Self Storage do storage auctions?

No. The popular programmes that you see on televisions about abandoned storage units and storage auctions are generally contrived and simply made for the cameras. People bidding for the contents of storage units that they have not seen is pretty much a myth.

Do Securus Self Storage offer wine storage services?

Wine storage in climate controlled conditions is a specialist service that we do not currently offer.

Do you provide a packing service?

We don’t provide a packing service, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that their goods are suitably packed for storage.

Who is responsible for locking the unit(s) that I rent from Securus Self Storage?

The customer is solely responsible for providing a secure padlock for the unit and ensuring it is locked at all times when the customer is not in the unit. Securus Self Storage are not responsible for locking any unit which the customer leaves unlocked at any time.

Can I add extra locks or security to a unit?

Customers are not permitted to fit additional padlocks or other securing devices to the unit. Securus Self Storage may have any such additional padlock or securing device removed off at customer’s expense.

Can I modify a self-storage unit?

No. Customers are not permitted to paint or in any other way decorate or make alterations to, or attach anything to, the internal or external surfaces of the unit they are renting.

What happens if I damage the self-storage unit?

Customers must maintain the unit by ensuring it is kept clean and in a state of good repair. In the event of uncleanliness of, or damage to, the unit or facility by the customer, Securus Self Storage are entitled to retain the deposit and charge the reasonable costs of cleaning repairs, replacement, etc.

What happens if I change my address and / or contact details?

As a customer of our self-storage units in Epsom, you will need to let us know in writing of any change of your address, phone numbers or email address, or those of your ‘Alternate Contact Person’ within 14 days of the change taking plce.

What identity documents do I need to bring for verification?

Please bring an official document with your photograph such as a driving license or passport.

If you are a business customer and you are a company director or senior manager, please also provide proof of your position such as a business card or an official letter from Companies House. If you are a business customer but are not a company director or senior manager, please provide a letter from the business to confirm that you have the authority to act on their behalf to enter into the license agreement with Securus Self Storage.

Are there any toilets on your self storage site?

Yes, we have a toilet on site for customer use.

Can I bring my pet with me to the storage unit?

For the safety and security of other customers and staff, only guide dogs can accompany customers into our self-storage facility.
